Holy Mountain Pilgrimage in Japan

Ancient Japanese in the Ping’ an era, whether noble or civilian, set out from Kyoto to worship at the Kumano complex and then arrived in Suiyu by boat. There is an ancient road with mossy stone steps in the green grass, surrounded by three mountains of Xiongy: the pilgrimage road. This is the one you are going to take.

The Kumano Pilgrimage is a twin to El Camino de Santiago’s one. Since not far ago was approached as an intimate and religious personal experience. And still is. Among shrines, stone tablets, and hot springs and waterfalls, the ancient path is interlaced and complex, leading to various important Buddhist temples, forming a unique network of pilgrimage trails covering the southern part of the Kii Peninsula and southern Osaka.
